Job Title: CAD Technician – Battery Energy Storage Systems
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
About the company:
An independent energy specialist in Manchester is looking for an experienced CAD technician to join its team. This company has created several systems and services to help its clients energy needs while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Since 2019, the company has been expanding into flexible reserve generation, energy storage, behind-the-meter generation, and other emerging technologies, building on its strong track record in power generation projects both in the UK and abroad. Its long-term goal is to become a market leader in these markets.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Preparation and coordination of full suites of 2D technical drawings, including initial concept designs, single-line diagrams, and planning application drawings.
- Ensuring designs adhere to specified standards and specifications.
- Generating site elevations and planning application drawings to scale.
- Creation and maintenance of a template drawing library updated per product specifications.
- Collaboration with the development team to produce battery energy storage project layouts using AutoCAD.
- Drawing site elevations using topographical information and supplier technology details.
- Management of internal drawing filing systems and support for process improvements.
Experience Requirements:
- Enthusiasm and curiosity about the energy storage industry, with a focus on technical aspects of BESS.
- Attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively with others to ensure accurate and constructible designs.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative work approach.
- Self-motivation and ambition to excel within the electrical industry.
- Background in engineering or a minimum of 1 year’s experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience in producing land plans and planning application drawings.
- Familiarity with planning application plans and related design and formatting requirements.
- Proficiency in software necessary for sourcing input data for land ownership plans.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in engineering or at least 1 year of AutoCAD experience.
- Experience with land plan production and planning application drawings.
- Knowledge of planning application plans and related design requirements.
- Proficiency in software for sourcing input data for land ownership plans.
