Role title: Electrical Design Engineer - Commercial Solar PV
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000
Location: Central London (Hybrid 2 days in office)
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Director, you will become an integral part of our engineering team, strengthening the team from an electrical standpoint. You will support the business by helping to design commercial solar solutions, which range from installations in sports stadiums and airports to vast warehouses belonging to globally recognized companies. Additionally, you will assist the sales team with your technical knowledge when liaising with clients.
This role focuses heavily on electrical design, involving the review and production of designs for all commercial projects, improving current processes, and ensuring that electrical designs comply with the latest regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Producing full system electrical designs and outputs using proprietary software.
- Creating technical drawings, including SLDs and layouts
- Conducting feasibility studies.
- Supporting product development.
- Researching industry trends and potential new solutions.
- Staying updated with industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Supporting the sales team by offering technical knowledge in client meetings.
- Assisting our principal engineer with contractor selection, coordination, and relations.
- Creating and supporting DNO applications.
- Taking full responsibility for smaller installation projects while supporting senior or third-party members on larger, more complex projects.
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering degree (bachelor’s or equivalent).
- 3-5 years of professional electrical design experience.
- Relevant electrical and electrical design qualifications.
- Demonstrable experience with proprietary electrical design software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent drawing software.
- Flexibility to visit sites periodically when required.
- Strong working knowledge of UK wiring regulations.
