Controls Engineer - Gloucester, Gloucestershire

Position Overview:
Joining the team where youll be engaging in both in-house tasks and on-site projects. You will play a key role in the design, installation, service, and production of our custom control systems and machinery. This includes programming single control panels and, more commonly, creating complex control systems from the ground up as part of larger turnkey automation solutions. You will collaborate closely with our mechanical and electrical design engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming PLCs, networks, and SCADA systems
- Coordinating with internal panel builders to ensure design specifications are met
- On-site installation and commissioning
- Servicing and troubleshooting existing systems
- Managing projects
- Overseeing certain customer projects from inception through to completion and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Training and mentoring team members in control systems
- Delivering all projects to the highest standards within agreed timelines
Qualifications and Experience: To be eligible for this role, you should have experience in:
- Industrial control systems
- PLC programming (expertise in Allen Bradley/Siemens is crucial)
- Industrial networks (EtherNET, ProfiNET)
- Manufacturing industries/processes
- Customer and supplier interactions
Preferred Skills and Experience: While not essential, experience in the following areas will be advantageous:
- Working abroad
- Programming robotics
- EPLAN electrical design
- Plastics processing machinery
- Packaging systems
