Health & Safety Advisor - Contract
£40-£45 per hour (outside IR35)
Initial contract: 2-3 months
Night shifts: Monday to Thursday, 12 hours
MDE is seeking a contract Health & Safety Advisor to join a major engineering company. In this role, you will support the delivery of the companys and clients project H&S requirements while providing on-site H&S advice and support to the project team. The position will cover projects in various locations in the North West of England.

- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Additional relevant skills and qualifications in any technical area
- Experience in highly regulated industries such as oil & gas, pharma, process, and nuclear
Key Responsibilities
- Assist project management teams in implementing company and project H&S requirements and objectives
- Provide support and advice to project delivery teams on planning and implementing the companys H&S management system, strategy, and objectives
- Offer H&S support and guidance to projects, ensuring a structured risk-based approach
- Conduct site audits and inspections, and ensure the project management team and supervision also carry them out
- Liaise with customer H&S representatives and attend meetings/forums as required
- Assist (as needed) with any client or external H&S audits
Skills/Knowledge
Essential Skills
- Thorough understanding of current Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of insurance legislation and practise
- Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with the construction industry and construction processes
- Experience with QA systems and compliance
Desirable Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to effectively communicate with all levels within the organisation, clients, and specialist advisors
Qualifications
- Current NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum requirement
- Proven track record of providing excellent Health and Safety services for an organisation operating in one or more of the following industries: chemical, nuclear, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and utilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, professional, and personal presentation skills when liaising with directors, senior managers, clients, external agencies, employees, and subcontractors
