MDE are hiring for a contract H&S to join a major engineering company supporting the delivery of the business and client project H&S requirements while providing on site H&S advice and support to the project team.
This role will cover projects in various locations in the North West of England

- Member of IOSH.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Additional relevant skills and qualifications in any technical area
- Experience in highly regulated industries e.g. oil & gas, pharma, process, nuclear etc
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the project management teams in the implementation of company and project H&S requirements and objectives
- Support and advise project delivery teams on planning and implementation of the company H&S Management system, strategy and objectives
- Provide H&S support and advice to the projects to ensure a structured risk based approach
- Conduct site audits and inspections and ensure these are also undertaken by the project management team and supervision
- Liaise with customer H&S representatives and attend meetings/forums as required
- Ensure, assist and support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near miss events to determine route causes and preventative measures to prevent re-occurrence
- Assist (where required) with any client or external H&S audits
Skills/Knowledge
Essential Skills
- In depth knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of insurance legislation and practice
- Proficient in I.T. and Microsoft Office
- Understanding of construction industry and construction processes
- Familiarity with QA systems and compliance.
Desirable Skills
- Excellent written, verbal, negotiating and influencing skills to enable effective communication at all levels within the organisation, with clients and specialist advisors.
Qualifications
- You will hold a current NEBOSH general certificate as a minimum
- You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of providing an excellent Health and Safety service for an organisation operating within one or more of the following industries; chemical, nuclear, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and utilities
- You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, professional and personal presentation skills when liaising with Directors, senior managers, clients, external agencies employees and sub-contractors.
