Controls Engineer
Location: Gloucestershire (Cheltenham/Tewkesbury area) with UK & international travel
Salary: £48,000 - £55,000 DOE + Private Healthcare (including dependants), Contributory Pension, Bonus Scheme
A growing and highly respected engineering and automation solutions provider is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join their talented technical team. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a diverse and challenging portfolio of work across bespoke automation systems, controls, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technology.
Working from a modern facility in Gloucestershire, youll be part of a close-knit engineering team developing tailor-made solutions for customers across multiple sectors. Youll also be expected to undertake periodic travel for installations and commissioning, predominantly in the UK and North America.
The Role
- Design and program industrial control systems (Allen Bradley / Siemens)
- Deliver PLC, touchscreen, network and SCADA programming
- Support on-site installation and commissioning of systems
- Troubleshoot and service existing customer solutions
- Take ownership of full project lifecycles - from concept to customer sign-off
- Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers on integrated solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and maintain high delivery standards
The Candidate
- Strong background in industrial control systems within manufacturing environments
- PLC programming from scratch (Siemens and Allen Bradley)
- Knowledge of industrial networking (EtherNET, ProfiNET)
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel
- Full driving licence
- UK/EU passport (required for travel to USA/Canada without visa restrictions)
- No criminal convictions that would restrict international travel
- Reside within a commutable distance of Cheltenham/Tewkesbury
Desirable Experience
- Experience working overseas
- Robotics programming
- EPLAN design knowledge
- Familiarity with plastic processing or packaging machinery
