Role: Senior Solar PV & Battery Storage Electrical Engineer
Salary: £55,000
Location: Remote (UK)
MDE has partnered with a global industry leader in the development, engineering, financing, building, operation, and maintenance of large-scale solar PV and energy storage projects.
Due to their rapid expansion, they are currently looking for an experienced solar PV & battery storage electrical design engineer to help with their growing solar and storage pipeline.

Role and Responsibilities:
- General electrical design for solar farms and energy storage projects
- Substation layouts, SLD preparation, wiring schematics, cable sizing calculations, earthing layouts, protection system creation, etc.
- Complete engineering designs on time
- Reading specs and drawing
- Evaluating tender technical specifications and reviewing risks and implications
- Identify, analyse, and resolve project difficulties using engineering and technical expertise
- Attend engineering progress meeting
- Work with Technical Advisor on development sites and ad hoc requests
- Support sales and purchasing with technical details, datasheet validation, BO
- Construction department support during project implementation
- Close communication with layout, buying, project development, project management, and subsidiary colleagues
- As-built drawings and calculations
- Project-end technical documentation
- Work with the sales team and other engineers to incorporate specifications into designs.
- Support company goals and act properly
- Follow all company policies/procedures, corporate ethics codes, and QHSE policy.
Requirements:
- Decarbonization, renewable energy enthusiasm
- HNC/HND minimum; BSc, BEng preferred
- Experience in the renewables industry, energy storage, or another engineering area.
- International and UK electrical standards knowledge
- Electrical design software knowledge (eplan or similar)
- AutoCAD skills (desirable)
- Pursuing IEng or CEng (desirable)
- Earthing design knowledge (desirable)
- G99 experience (desirable)
- PV Syst simulation software knowledge (desirable)
- PV design experience (desirable)
- Knowledge of developer-EPC-TA relations in utility-scale PV project development
- Modelling and modelling PV industry assumptions. Single-axis trackers and bifacial panel
- Energy storage knowledge
- Experience working across jurisdictions and time zones, including travel
- Industry knowledge (TAs, Investors, EPC, third-party labs, etc.
