Role: Technical Training & Competence Manager (Part - Time)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 Pro Rata (3 days a week)
Location: Telford (3 days)

Job Purpose: The Technical Training and Competence Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of learning and development. This part-time position (2-3 days a week, based in Telford) is instrumental in designing engaging content for Moodle Workplace, our Learning Management System (LMS), to align with our Onboard Connect strategy. The incumbent will lead the implementation of technical learning strategies, oversee training programs, and facilitate the growth of employee skills and knowledge.
The primary objective is to future-proof the organization by nurturing the next generation of engineers. This role encompasses the assessment of learning and development needs, in-house training delivery, and evaluation of training effectiveness. The ideal candidate should possess a proven track record in coaching, mentoring, and conducting effective learning interventions, including traditional training and on/off the job training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support managers in developing technical career paths for their teams.
- Develop and implement comprehensive learning strategies and programs.
- Assess the success of learning initiatives and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and consultant trainers.
- Monitor and manage budgets, as well as negotiate contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum of a BEng in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mentoring, coaching, teaching skills, and delivering on/off the job training interventions.
- Subject Matter Expert in electrical control systems with at least 10 years of specialized experience in the field of electrical engineering, particularly in drives systems, PLCs, manufacturing environments, and on-site work.
