Location: Midlands, United Kingdom
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (dependent on experience)
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Solar PV Design Manager to join a well-developed design team in the Midlands. As the Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design and engineering aspects of our commercial and utility-scale solar PV projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful development, design, and execution of clean energy projects that align with the companys mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the solar PV design team, ensuring effective collaboration and communication within the team and across departments.
- Oversee the design process from project conception to construction, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Develop and optimize solar PV system designs that maximize energy generation while considering cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Work closely with project developers, engineers, and external partners to integrate solar PV projects seamlessly into the existing infrastructure and grid network.
- Review and approve design documentation, including layout drawings, electrical diagrams, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality components and materials for solar PV installations, maintaining cost control without compromising quality.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in solar PV design, integrating innovative solutions into project development where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in designing commercial and utility-scale solar PV projects, including system layout, electrical design, and equipment selection.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV technologies, grid integration, and relevant regulations in the UK.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and other industry-specific tools.
- Leadership experience, with a track record of effectively managing design teams and driving project success.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
