Development Manager - Grid-scale Solar/BESS/Wind/EV
Permanent: Office-based - Central London
Basic Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 (Flexible DOE)
Benefits: 4-day week, Bonus, Company pension, 38 days AL
About the Company
We are working with a London-based renewables developer, currently experiencing high growth! Their team is known for their work in utility-scale Solar & battery storage (BESS) as well as Onshore wind and green hydrogen. They have ambitious growth plans and the capital to achieve them.

What does this position entail?
- Shortlist development sites using grid capacity and mapping tools.
- Liaison with landowners and option/lease agreements.
- Managing site designs for solar, battery and co-located sites with our engineers.
- Managing surveys, planning, and local engagement.
- External stakeholder management.
- Managing project budgets and timelines internally and for clients; identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies
- Participate in portfolio-level reviews and decision-making for KPIs.
What are we seeking from a candidate?
- Strong understanding of UK development requirements for solar and battery energy storage projects between 1MW and 300MW+, including regional permitting and grid processes.
- Preferably 5+ years of utility-scale renewables development experience in the UK.
- Able to negotiate grid connections and understand the technical and design aspects of solar and energy storage systems.
- Worked with landowners on-site agreements, wayleaves, and easements.
- Confident interacting with the public and media.
- Manage multiple workstreams and consultants.
- Personable, professional and calm under pressure.
Desirable Candidate Characteristics
- Familiarity with transmission system grid connections
- Experience with NSIP applications
- Use of GIS systems
- Well-networked within the sector
- Experience in portfolio management
- Strong affinity for commercial and technical aspects
- Project management trained with MS Project/Gantt charts proficiency.
- Competence in working in an international environment
- Able to wear many hats, be proactive and autonomous
