Business Development Manager/Director - Renewables (PPAs)

Basic Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 (Flexible DOE and seniority)

About the Company
Were glad to be partnered with a company at the forefront of energy solutions, providing tailored, fully-funded renewable energy systems between 1 - 10 MW.
Their objective - to help businesses reach their decarbonization, grid independence and future-proofing goals in the UK & Europe, with a view of potentially extending to other geographies accordingly to market demand.
This is a highly independent position, where the right person will be responsible for developing new business, continually improve on processes and ultimately, if desired; recruit, nurture and manage a new team with the continued support of their collaborative team.
The right person will oversee the whole Solar/Renewable division, which includes sourcing and lead generation, business development and sales, technical evaluation and design, account management, legal, and commercial (with the support of the existing team). The applicant should have a strong understanding of and a wide range of experience with project origination (mainly) and construction of solar, battery, and other renewable energy systems.
What would your day-to-day look like?
Core
- Establishing annual and long-term plan and budget with the MD.
- Reporting to the MD on regional forecasts and market outlooks.
- Handling the annual regional budget and delivering the expected development pipeline
- Contract negotiations and interaction with developers, investors, suppliers/subcontractors, external solicitors, and technical advisors
- Maintaining client processes
- Developing projects with internal and external resources within deadlines and budgets
Planning/Strategy
- Develop a renewable energy market strategy across technologies and selected geographies to meet growth and revenue goals in the global sustainability sector, including concept, business model, go to market strategy, and growth strategies.
- Finds and prioritises high-growth markets and regions.
- Maintains links with the renewable energy industry to exploit growth potential through partnerships and other cooperative alliances.
- Help identify and analyse industry acquisition targets that support or complement the renewable energy strategy and can expand geographic reach and accelerate growth and revenue.
- Diversify revenue model tactics to maximise revenue and leverage resources. Hourly/project-based, success-based, brokerage, revenue sharing, and partnerships/finders fees are options.
- Keep awareness of renewable energy technology advancement, new and emerging technologies (e.g., energy storage, hydrogen) to find new product and service opportunities.
Commercial
- Manage high-profile, high-value consultative sales. Maximising our client base and cross-segment prospects.
- With customer-facing webinars and training, social media, and speaking at conferences and industry events, increase product and service awareness and corporate thought leadership.
Delivery
- Oversee large or difficult projects throughout the project cycle.
- Oversee strategy, analytical, or consulting teams to deliver all parts of several projects.
- To succeed, lead and cooperate cross-functional teams on scope, timeline, and engagement.
- Oversee service/solution delivery and project team.
- Monitor and report project performance
What experience are we looking for?
- 10+ years of UK and European solar, battery, and other renewable energy experience across project development, finance, corporate PPAs, and regulatory and incentive structure optimization.
- You will grasp the development process from greenfield to COD, solar project economics, finance frameworks, and investors.
- Excellent people management and team building skills to supply renewable energy services
- Good technical understanding of energy systems and renewable energy technologies and ability to appraise new renewable energy and complementary technologies to discover new opportunities
- Good project management abilities, including software experience
- Manage various projects and provide substantial commercial results without supervision
- Business, financial, and customer-service skills
- Excellent writing, verbal, and presentation abilities Team player who excels in collaborative environments Wanted Experience
- Business-level multilingualism in European languages is a bonus.
- Knowledge of renewable energy incentives and regulations. Ability to examine and use new and current structures to grow clients and revenue.
- Excellent problem-solving, mathematical, financial modelling, and organisational skills
- You will understand local supplier chains and potential regional construction/logistics and importation/tax difficulties in important markets.
