Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement business strategies for HV function within O&M business.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules and improve standard procedures.
- Collaborate with HSE departments to assess electrical safety policies.
- Assess competency of employees and third-party companies on LV and HV electrical systems.
- Support integration of substation SCADA systems into monitoring platform.
- Propose projects to enhance lifespan and performance of MV/HV and substation components.
- Liaise with DNOs and have knowledge of grid codes and regulations.
- Build collaborative relationships with local O&M and Asset Managers to improve asset performance.
- Work with regional teams, HSE, Engineering, Monitoring, and Planning for HV project works.
- Contribute to development of solar products and specifications.
- Create, modify, and implement electrical safety standards with Global HSE team.
- Contribute to business cases for investment and provide comprehensive work package quotes.
- Review RAMS in conjunction with HSE and PMs.
- Ensure professional completion of client onboarding and FAC process.
- Liaise with DNOs and technical advisors for upcoming projects.
- Assess contractors skills and adherence to electrical safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Electrical Standards (Cables, Switchgears, Transformers).
- Experience in primary and secondary voltage injection tests.
- Background in HV sector with expertise in new connections, HV infrastructure, or control protection.
- Knowledge of H&S Regulations (ESQCR, EaW, HaSaW) and ENA Safety Rules.
- Understanding of mechanical and materials engineering principles related to electrical equipment failures.
- Experience as a Senior Authorised Person/Control Engineer.
- Demonstrable experience in HV & LV substation design and commissioning.
- 5+ years of experience as an Electrical or Mechanical engineer in industrial Solar PV plants.
- Familiarity with distributed generation, preferably solar.
- Previous experience in a DNO or grid connection request process is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting contracts is advantageous.
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to convey technical information to non-technical teams.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and presentation.
- Efficient organization and workload management skills.
- Excellent client-facing and contractor management abilities.
Qualifications:
- Degree or professional qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical engineering preferred).
- HNC in Electrical Power Engineering.
- C&G High Voltage Operational Safety.
- Professional qualification such as CEng, IEng (Desirable).
- NEBOSH certificate in construction health and safety or similar (Desirable).
- CMI or ILM Level 5 in leadership and management or similar (Desirable).
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to engage and manage stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as required by the business Domestic and Globally.
