MDE are hiring for an experienced Shift Electrician to support the maintenance of fast paced production lines in an industrial setting
You will be a key member of the team involved in reactive and preventative maintenance in order to minimise downtime and increase reliability.
PURPOSE OF JOB
Provide a comprehensive maintenance / electrical breakdown service and support to the relevant department functions of the plant, which will enable the department to operate at a level of availability and performance within agreed standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To ensure safety standards are maintained and safe working procedures are adhered to.
- Reporting any accidents and near misses, to improve the Occupational Safety of personnel
- Diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns.
- Identifying failure modes of plant equipment and returning the equipment to operation safely and in a reasonable timescale.
- To follow up all shift reports, SAP and other inspection reports detailing corrective actions
- Identifying failure modes of electrical equipment and making recommendations to prevent further failures.
- Locating spare parts using the maintenance management system.
- Collecting and returning spares to stores.
- To work under the rules of the Electrical and Mechanical safety systems, Issuing certificates / permits as and when required.
- To assess all engineering plant changes using the Management of Change (MOC) system.
- Obtaining maintenance schedules from the maintenance management system (SAP) and feeding back work carried out.
- Work arising to be recorded using notifications.
- To liaise with engineering day teams to identify and resolve long-term engineering issues.
To carry out preventive maintenance routines, including the following:
- Motor brush replacement and set up.
- Investigate and rectify all electrical faults.
- Replace, dismantle and repair AC and DC motors, including cleaning, changing brushes, replacing bearings and couplings, and testing.
- Install, repair and test lighting systems.
- Investigate and rectify faults in portable hand equipment.
- The diagnosis, location and rectification of faults such as short circuiting, overheating, maladjustment or failure of devices.
- Installing, repairing servicing and testing of medium voltage and low voltage power systems, including diesel engine starting, automatic sequence controls, AC and DC medium voltage machines and generators.
- Servicing and repair of equipment used on cranes and lifts e.g. safety devices, control and protective devices.
- Adjustment and alignment of electrical and magnetic contact surfaces in circuit breakers and contactor gear.
- Adjustment of electrical rotating machines such as correct alignment of transmissions, drives and radial clearances, and equalisation of air gaps.
- Fault finding on and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Repair of OHT cranes, compressors and other ancillary equipment.
The ideal candidate will have formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering and familiar with working to the highest levels of H&S.
