Job Title: Materials Handler (Plastics Industry) Location: Telford, UK
Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently handle incoming and outgoing plastics materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
- Receive, inspect, and verify the quantity and quality of incoming plastics materials, comparing them to purchase orders or other documents.
- Organize and maintain inventory storage areas specifically designed for plastics materials, ensuring proper labeling, segregation, and preservation.
- Prepare plastics materials for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, specifically tailored for plastics materials handling, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining equipment in good working condition.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to coordinate the flow of plastics materials, including recycling and waste management processes.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners regarding materials handling requirements and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to plastics materials handling activities, including material characteristics, lot numbers, and traceability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of plastics materials handling processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards specific to the plastics industry.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Materials Handler in the plastics industry or a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of plastics materials, including their properties, handling requirements, and potential hazards.
- Proficiency in operating material handling equipment specifically designed for plastics materials, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a plastics materials environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records for traceability and quality control purposes.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management, specifically in the context of plastics materials.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to plastics materials handling, including handling of hazardous materials and waste management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team in a plastics manufacturing environment.
