Our client, a leading industry player, is seeking a Warehouse & Distribution Manager to spearhead their Material, Planning & Logistics department at the Larkhall site. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on a 24/7 operation with approximately 70 dedicated team members.
Position: Warehouse & Distribution Manager
Department: Material, Planning & Logistics
Job Purpose: As the Warehouse & Distribution Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maximizing the efficiency of storage and distribution functions. Your responsibilities include ensuring seamless transactions, providing exceptional accuracy and service to both internal and external customers, and fostering the development of a high-performing team.
Reports to: Material Planning & Logistics Manager
Reports: Shift Leaders, Shift Managers, Stock Controller
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics:
- Manage maintenance and repair of Warehouse and material handling equipment.
- Ensure the correct resources are available for accurate and timely order preparation.
- Oversee the processing of ASN/EDI transmissions.
- Act as the point of escalation between Store Shift Leads, Logistics Managers, and Freight partners.
Leadership:
- Provide overall leadership responsibility for all teams within the Warehouse function.
- Establish a safe working environment for warehouse and product handlers.
- Manage training and licensing matrix for the team.
- Recruit and retain key skills.
Process Controls:
- Ensure compliance with specific process controls, including ASN/EDI and time-critical functions.
- Support manufacturing Operations and Stores team to ensure On-Time-In-Full despatches.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the functionality of the Warehouse and Distribution function.
- Assist with MP&L queries regarding freight tracking and record-keeping.
Skills & Experience:
- Robust stores/warehouse experience, high energy, and hands-on.
- Knowledge of a fast-paced Distribution Warehouse (Automotive industry experience would be advantageous).
- Strong leadership skills, able to motivate, engage, and develop teams.
- Effective and assertive communication skills.
- Strong numerical skills and reasoning.
- Flexibility and agility - able to react to changing demands.
- High attention to detail, with good system/PC skills including Excel and AX.
- Ability to build external relationships with Customers, 3PL providers, and other Service Providers.
- Strong working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements given the high-risk nature of the roles working environment.
