MDE are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Injection Moulding Setter to join a fast paced manufacturing business in Cambridgeshire.
As an Injection Moulding Setter, you will be responsible for the daily running of moulding machines in line with the Mould Shop capacity plan. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to safety will contribute to our success in achieving operational efficiencies and delivering high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform the daily operation of moulding machines according to the Mould Shop capacity plan.
- Utilise the computerised monitoring system to monitor machine utilisation for all shifts.
- Update comupter system to reflect machine status, including running, tool change, and sampling activities.
- Monitor machine performance during shifts, ensuring all available machines are running, and report any issues affecting machine operation to the senior setter or Shift Manager.
- Execute tool changes to maximize machine utilization in alignment with the mould shop plan and running priority.
- Champion Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) principles to achieve rapid tool changes.
- Monitor tool changes per shift, identify areas for improvement, and implement actions accordingly.
- Target worst-case cycle times and implement improvement measures, with the objective of ensuring all machines operate within quoted cycle times.
- Collaborate with the quality department/inspectors to address daily quality issues and plan corrective actions.
- Identify training needs and liaise with the Shift Manager to facilitate personal improvements.
- Conduct setting-conditioning and tool hanging activities to optimise machine performance.
- Participate in problem-solving actions as required, contributing to process improvements and best practices.
- Record relevant data related to process controls, setting sheets, process improvements, and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with the Shift Manager and Production Manager regarding any issues or management support requirements.
- Promote and adhere to 5S principles and best practices in the work environment.
- Ensure that working areas are kept clean, tidy, and free from obstructions upon task completion.
- Perform any other duties as assigned within the scope of your ability and in alignment with company objectives.

- Execute all duties in a safe and efficient manner, complying with current Health and Safety legislation, particularly the HASAW Act 1974.
- Understand and fulfill individual responsibilities related to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Immediately report any accidents, near misses, or hazards, and actively participate in investigations.
- Utilize and maintain personal protective equipment provided for ensuring personal safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work area, keeping it free from obstructions.
