MDE have the privilege of working with an leading test facility, specializing in the design and manufacturing of test products and systems for propulsion, power train, vehicle, and component testing.
Our client are currently experiencing a mass phase of growth and transformation and hence need an highly skilled and dedicated Projects Manager/Site Manager to join their team.
So what will you be doing?
You will be responsible for planning, managing, coordinating, and controlling projects. While the position will primarily be based in Malvern, it will require occasional travel and extended stays at customer sites.
This role is well-suited for individuals with experience in overseeing complex projects involving internal equipment and specialist contractors. Familiarity with CDM (Construction Design and Management) would be beneficial, along with a proven ability to meet tight project schedules. An ideal candidate will have a technical background coupled with the necessary commercial skills to be an effective project manager.
Reporting to the Head of Project Management, your responsibilities will include:
- Initiating projects by assessing feasibility, establishing budgets, assembling teams, and allocating resources.
- Conducting comprehensive planning, including defining goals, assigning roles, and creating schedules and timelines aligned with client requirements.
- Leading and motivating the project team, comprising internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing the project by coordinating team activities, ensuring adherence to budgets, and monitoring progress.
- Implementing monitoring and control measures to track project advancement.
- Identifying and managing risks to ensure timely project delivery.
- Communicating milestone timelines to clients and facilitating timely payments upon their fulfilment.
- Implementing necessary changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Providing regular updates to management and clients.
- Closing projects, including evaluating successes and challenges to enhance future projects.
Required Qualifications:
- IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
- Proficiency in writing risk assessments
- COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
- Project management certification
- Competence in managing safety
- Ideally, SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

- Excellent planning and organizational skills, both for oneself and the team
- Technical acumen with a problem-solving mindset
- Resilience and effective communication skills at all levels, both verbal and written
- Ability to make sound commercial decisions and resolve challenges
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Consistent delivery within tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and proactive in taking initiative
- Passionate about engineering
- Ideally, possess an HNC/degree level qualification, although experience is essential
