MDE are currently working with a world renowned Power Tools manufacturer based in Telford. Our client have a fantastic opportunity available for a talented Automation Engineer looking to take their career to the next level!

  • Proven working experience within manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Have good working knowledge of fault diagnosis on mechanical and/or electrical faults with in depth knowledge of PLC Programming and Pneumatics
  • You should hold an ONC/HNC in mechanical, electrical and/or production engineering with a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance or equivalent.
  • GCSE at grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications)


Key Tasks will include:

  • To provide a comprehensive, company wide and efficient electrical diagnostic, repair and improvement service for plant, machinery, equipment and site services etc.
  • To identify opportunities for improvement in quality, cost and/or delivery by the design, development and implementation of equipment.
  • To raise VS1s, justifications and capital approval for spare parts, refurbishments and services.
  • To support TPM activity in line with the issued schedule and procedure.
  • To contribute in meeting the company and department objectives in minimising equipment downtime.
  • To demonstrate a can do approach to improving SMED, 5S, 5Tests, 5Wastes and Kaizen activity.
  • To ensure when designing, developing, improving and/or implementing equipment that relevant procedures, critical checks and correct operations are facilitated at all times.
  • Take on any reasonable request from the Engineering Manager or Assistant Engineering Manager in accordance with Makitas direction.


General Tasks:

  • Implement projects via the use of SMART targets to pre-agreed budgets and time-plans.
  • Conform to Health and Safety requirements as it applies to the Companys operations.
  • To Support the departments maintenance of all plant, buildings and equipment.
  • To assist with the departments training in the broadest terms.
  • Ensure the Companys working procedures are adhered to as stated in the Company manuals, policies, contracts and handbook including compliance with SOX and other international standards obtained by Makita.
  • To proactively assist in the development of continuous improvement and co-operation in the department.
  • To undertake any reasonable request in which you are competent to perform in accordance with Makitas direction.

Your Annual Leave will start at 23 days pro rata plus bank holidays. At present set shut down periods are during Summer and Christmas.
