Business development and Innovation Manager - Solar PV

MDE Group has partnered with a market leader in the development, engineering, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of large-scale Solar PV projects to recruit a Business Development and Innovation Manager to join the team in the UK. The role can be based anywhere in the UK with some travel to the office in the southwest.


Our clients have built and connected over 4GW of solar projects globally, are have a constantly growing O&M portfolio in the UK. The Business Development and Innovation Manager will lead the UK O&M division, ensuring the successful delivery of O&M contracts for large-scale Solar PV and Energy Storage assets.


Operational Responsibilities

  • Supervision of operations and strategy for the O&M department
  • Financial and operational reporting to the board
  • Financial review and forecasting including cost optimizations
  • HSE management for all works related to O&M activities, ensuring HSE obligations are met to a high standard
  • Continuous improvement of the performance of the O&M team
  • Overseeing recruitment, staff appraisals, pay review, managing absence and department structuring, providing clear leadership and staff engagement
  • Management of major clients and contracts
  • Ensuring O&M contracts are fulfilled
  • Negotiation of contracts
  • Overseeing the O&M sales team and leading sales activities, representing our client in major forums
  • Day-to-day management of major technical and non-technical issues in a portfolio of large-scale solar farms
  • Managing subcontractors
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and all contractual parties
  • Resolving disputes in an efficient and beneficial manner
  • Insurance claims and contracts management
  • Overseeing PAC, IAC, and FAC successful completion

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Developing new products and services, including detailed market strategies and pricing plans
  • Pitching products and services to new customers and offering new services to existing customers
  • Researching new markets
  • Initiating new partnerships and possible business acquisitions
  • Preparing product pitches and making presentations to prospective clients and investors
  • Collaborating with the sales and marketing teams to identify more effective marketing strategies
  • Maintaining client, investor and other business stakeholder relationships
  • Becoming a subject matter expert on the companys business products, processes and operations and remaining up-to-date on industry news

Innovation Responsibilites

  • Develop Organisational changes
  • Assess, design Processes, and develop new products or services to drive growth
  • Implementation of new technologies
  • New computer software to aid growth and efficiencies
  • Collaborating and liaising with department managers


Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the UK Solar PV O&M industry
  • Experience in negotiation and managing O&M contracts
  • An engineering degree is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of HSE regulations
  • Able to resolve both technical and non-technical issues
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Good technical knowledge of PV systems
  • Excellent communication skills
