Are you up for a new challenge? MDE is on the hunt for a seasoned Grid Connection Manager to join a leading sustainable energy generation company and support their ongoing success and growth in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate with National Grid and Distribution Network (Service) Operators (DNOs) to secure and maintain the optimum connection agreements for our projects
- To provide technical assistance throughout the development process to ensure sites are best selected and developed within the connection constraints of the proposed locations
- To check the viability of grid connections for all existing and future projects
- To manage projects grid connection works at 11kV, 33kV, and above through to commissioning
- To manage the process of grid applications ensuring they are submitted in a timely manner and progress through the connection procedure without delay
- Review and analyse grid connection offers and identify connection risk and how to mitigate
- Negotiate commercial terms and technical requirements contained in the grid offers and connection agreements
- Build strong relationships and proactively manage the DNOs and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) involved in commissioning projects
- Manage the compliance with grid technical requirements including Grid Codes and Distribution Codes
- Attend DNO workshops and events on a regular basis and keep up to date with the relevant connection policies
- To develop a standardised company procedure for grid connections that reduce connection procedure and installation time and cost
- Collect and finalise all commissioning documentation
- Prepare and submit Management Information Reports to Senior Management
- Ensure all Health and Safety regulatory obligations including CDM regulations and quality standards are met applicable to the grid connection process
- Assist in other related duties as and when requested by the Executive Team
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes including the anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001)
Skills required:
- Strong background in distribution grid connections, ideally in the renewable generation or EV charging industry Electrical understanding of distribution networks
- Previous experience of working in a similar position with knowledge of the GB grid connection process
- A degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Engineering is essential, Electrical bias is preferable
- Experience in using project management tools is desirable - APMP/PRINCE2 or MS Project Abilities
- Basic CAD skills (sufficient to draft Single Line Diagrams)
- Strong project management, planning, and time management abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders
- Proven knowledge of Health and Safety in Construction regulations, specifically CDM regulations
- Self-driven, focused, results and quality-oriented
- Strong sense of judgement and decision making
- Self-motivated to achieve tight deadlines
- Cordial and professional with excellent client-facing skills
- Effective communication both verbally and in written form
- Computer literate
- Flexible - the role will require managing a number of sites
- UK Driving License
- Travel to DNO offices as well as project site visits as needed.
