Role: MES Support Engineer

Salary; £17.62ph

Hours of work: 3 shifts rotating (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm / 10pm - 6am)

Location: Birmingham

MDE are looking for an experienced MES Support Engineer to join a leading tier one supplier in the Birmingham area.

You will be focusing on ensuring that the MES Software application is properly maintained, and engineering changes are delivered correctly.

Also, to Lead development of Automation and Software Planned Maintenance and ensure Technical Work Instructions are available.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the maintenance, support and update MES systems within the division.
  • Assist in the investigation of plant and quality issues, supporting the development of a solution.
  • Provide engineering support to all the internal Operations teams
  • Lead Root Cause activities to resolve internal and external technical problems
  • Lead Product Investigation activities
  • Keep all electrical drawings and software backups up-to-date, performing Audits as scheduled.
  • Profundity in understanding of operation lines, key processes and key systems.
  • Maintain and Support all Build System PCs, Printers, Scanners, DC Tooling and any other periphery equipment required for production.

  • Understand and comply with Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies & procedures

Quality

  • Knowledge of Automotive procedures regarding quality management, measures and tools for quality improvement.
  • Has knowledge about the requirements of the IATF 16949/ISO9001 management system.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Be experienced working with MES software solutions.
  • Programming Skills in Visual Basic.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills of technical issues.
  • Able to produce clear, concise and accurate written and verbal communications (in English) at all levels.
  • Effective listening skills and ability to clarify and confirm technical support requirements.
  • Is self-confident, proficient and competent and can work well under pressure and with minimum supervision.
  • Able to work in an engineering team environment and participate in all team activities, with a willingness to share experience and skills and promote the development of team members.
  • Able to work outside core hours and be flexible to react to the business priorities.

  • PC based control systems
  • Torque control systems e.g. Desoutter
  • Root cause analysis
  • Extensive experience in Maintenance / Engineering / Controls in Automotive Environment
