EPC Contracts Manager

Salary: £65,000 - 75,000
Location: Swindon/London/Home Based (negotiable)
Position reports to: Head of Project Management
Role overview: Providing Contract Management services to support the delivery of Solar PV & Battery Storage projects in the UK.

My client is a leading EPC service provider in the development, construction, and operation of solar power plants. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Germany, my client has expanded internationally with around 500 employees in five countries. They have installed over 480 PV systems with a total output of more than 4 GW worldwide and maintain a capacity of 1.7 GW of PV plants. The company is dedicated to advancing the European energy transition and ensuring a clean energy supply for future generations.
As an external recruiter, we are looking for a Contract Manager to take a lead role within my clients UK team for management of EPC contracts and associated supply or service subcontracts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • working with the procurement and legal team to develop framework agreements with key suppliers,
  • supporting project managers with risk management,
  • contractual disputes/escalations, and claims,
  • developing and maintaining standards and processes for contract management across EPC projects,
  • and identifying the ideal contracting strategy to ensure projects are delivered to high quality, on time, and within budget.

The successful candidate will…

  • Have a degree in relevant engineering or legal discipline, familiarity with English contract law, and experience of EPC/engineering/building contract management.
  • Have a strong understanding of typical contract formats used in EPC business and associated contract negotiation experience, particularly with NEC and FIDIC, is essential, along with the ability to manage contractual issues from escalation, claims disputes, mediation, and through to resolution.
  • Have experience of negotiating framework agreements with suppliers and subcontractors, a working technical knowledge of solar PV and/or battery storage, and a strong existing network of industry contacts are also advantageous.
  • Be fluent in English, an excellent communicator, a selfstarter committed to self-development, and have a passion for renewable energy.
