We are looking for a Control System Engineer

The Control Engineer reporting to EICT lead will be member of PDE Project Management Team, working collaboratively within the PDE organization, systems, procedures, and methods.

The Control  Engineer is responsible and accountable towards PDE for design solution and all engineering activities within Project towards Control discipline. The Control Engineer shall ensure that all relevant work internal and external in these disciplines related to the Project is executed to meet:

- Class, Flag and British Regulatory Requirements as per Regulatory Compliance Plan (RCP)
- Contract Requirements
- Project Specifications, Codes and Standards.

One of the main activities of CONTROL Engineer will involve taking lead for defining, planning and then overlooking execution of SAS system modifications (PCS, PSD, PSD, and F&G) at subsystem level as well as verification and modification of field instrumentation and system and follow up of procurement. CONTROL Engineer shall ensure that all project contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders prepared in the relevant areas / disciplines for EPC execution of the defined work reflect the required regulatory and standards compliance.



Job Description

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the SAS system modifications schedule at subsystem and node levels.

  • Follow up on Control system development activities and evaluate risks to ensure timely delivery.

  • Ensure the control system change module aligns with the project schedule.

  • Ensure compliance with company frameworks, contracts, and legal/environmental/safety regulations.

  • Coordinate with PDE operations team on life extension scopes related to CONTROL and SAS/field instrumentation.

  • Collaborate with Regulatory Compliance & Verification Lead and Contractors to ensure CONTROL-related compliance.

  • Review and comment on technical documents like datasheets, diagrams, specifications, and work packages.

  • Evaluate CONTROL design for operability, functionality, accessibility, and maintainability.

  • Verify and approve engineering comments and respond to TQs or non-conformances.

  • Prepare CONTROL-related technical documents and drawings to define scope of work.

  • Participate in work pack review sessions and ensure completeness from the contractor.

  • Support resolution of Certifying Authority comments on CONTROL systems.

  • Attend design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, and safety studies.

  • Monitor and review CONTROL-related construction and installation activities.

  • Support mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of CONTROL systems.

  • Report any delays, design failures, or contract gaps to the EICT Lead.

  • Participate in meetings, audits, and inspections globally.

  • Provide Lessons Learned input to the PDE Project Management Team.

  • Close assigned Technical Queries (TQs) and action items in PIMS or formal MoMs.

  • Collaborate with other disciplines in the Project Management Team and call off resources as needed.

  • Act as package responsible engineer for identified procurement packages.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager & EICT Lead.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Control Engineering.

  • 15+ years of experience in CONTROL engineering, including leadership roles.

  • Proven track record as EICT Lead or Instrument & Control System Lead on offshore projects, preferably FPSOs.

  • Strong background in modification projects and FPSO redeployment.

  • Experience with UK North Sea projects and familiarity with UK compliance standards.

  • Working knowledge of ABB control systems.

  • Effective interpersonal skills in multidisciplinary project environments.

  • Experience working in Middle East and Southeast Asian shipyards is a plus.

  • Diplomatic and assertive with a flexible, organized, and systematic approach.

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
