Project Engineering – Secondary for Control & Protection
Job Description
- Develop and create technical drawings and documents essential for construction and project execution.
- Lead, supervise and coordinate all Secondary Engineering scope and sub-suppliers to secure the integrity, completeness and correct function of the substation system.
- Take responsibility for all substation Control and Protection design, calculations and documentation, including base design, detail design and as-built documentation through to project closeout.
- Take responsibility for Control and Protection systems with sub-suppliers.
- Prepare relevant procedures related to the project scope.
- Make technical recommendations in the Control and Protection design, engineering and execution phases to ensure actions are completed according to process requirements and standards.
- Identify risks and improvement opportunities throughout the project.
- Assist in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects, including protection and measuring equipment technical specifications, cabling estimates and validation of equipment.
- Create and deliver Control and Protection scope-specific work planning, resource requirements, proposals, engineering estimates, and risk and opportunity analyses.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs comply with customer requirements and local regulations and standards.
- Conduct necessary clarifications on components, supplies, services, and control and protection systems.
- Provide technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities.
- Participate actively in testing and commissioning activities, working closely with commissioning engineers on-site.
- Engage with factories and suppliers across Europe to support project needs.
- Maintain and enhance customer satisfaction through continued dialogue and excellent service at all project stages.
- Collaborate and network with engineering colleagues, share best practice across projects and disciplines, and develop leadership, coordination and communication skills with support from local and international teams.
- Report to the Engineering Manager and project team, ensuring Secondary Engineering activities are executed efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
Qualification Requirements
- Higher education in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- Broad knowledge of substation Control and Protection engineering and execution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience from an engineering department or site work.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following relevant workplace safety guidelines.
- High level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.
- Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills to quickly resolve project-related activities and issues.
- Fluent in English and Norwegian, both spoken and written.
- Knowledge of electrical design software such as EPLAN, E3 or AutoCAD is considered positive.
- Knowledge of Power Systems, Renewable Energy and Transmission Systems is considered positive.
- Knowledge of control systems, SCADA and programming is considered positive.
- Knowledge of IED tools such as PCM600 or similar is considered positive.
- Knowledge of Norwegian laws for power systems is considered positive.
- Experience with commissioning, protection testing, secondary injections and primary injections is considered positive.
