Job Description
Under broad direction, assists with design, research, and development of new applications and major enhancements.
Provides guidance to developers, testers, and support staff.
Uses understanding of technological advances in both the software industry and the oil and gas industry to challenge the technical software delivery process and deliver fit-for-purpose software in a timely manner.
Has experience in leading software development projects and may provide Technical Excellence Leadership for more than one team, offering expert guidance to software developers and support staff.
Provides guidance on application security standards, secure coding practices, and secure architecture designs.
Maintains a strong technical focus in product planning for a complete software system.
Qualification Requirements
Completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of experience including software development experience.
Job Duties
Design, implement, and maintain core services and libraries in F#.
Contribute to the architecture and scalability of a cloud-based platform.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features from concept to production.
Ensure high standards of code quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices.
Mentor other engineers and foster adoption of functional programming patterns.
Deploy, monitor, and optimize workloads on Azure.
Requirements
10+ years of professional software development experience, with significant expertise in F#.
Strong background in functional programming principles and patterns.
Experience building scalable, distributed, or data-intensive applications.
Proven track record of developing production-grade software with high quality and reliability.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (e.g., App Services, Functions, Service Bus, AKS, storage).
Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices and cloud-native development.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Bonus Skills
Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
Experience with .NET ecosystem more broadly (C#, libraries, interop).
Knowledge of scientific computing, modeling, or geoscience applications.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, Pulumi, etc.).
